BRIDGE Certification

Accessibility

BRIDGE should work for every educator who learns here, including educators with disabilities. This page explains our approach to accessibility and how to request support or an accommodation.

Our commitment

First Gen Empower is committed to making BRIDGE usable by everyone. Our program helps campus staff remove barriers for students, and we apply that commitment to our own learning experience. If something prevents you from participating, we want to hear about it and help.

Our accessibility standard

The pages we build for BRIDGE target WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These guidelines address access for people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, captions, and other assistive technologies.

We review our pages as the program evolves and use participant feedback to identify and address barriers. Our internal checks guide this work; they are not an independent certification of the entire platform.

How we support access

  • Readable content. We check text contrast, use clear headings, and design pages to adapt to smaller screens and enlarged text.

  • Keyboard navigation. Links and controls have visible focus indicators, and we use native controls where possible so they work with standard keyboard commands.

  • Reduced motion. Our custom pages respect your device's reduced motion preference.

  • Accessible formats and accommodations. Contact us about captions, transcripts, alternative formats, or another adjustment that would help you participate.

Feedback and accommodations

If something in BRIDGE is hard to see, hear, operate, or understand, email bridge@firstgenempower.org. You can use the same address to request an accommodation before or during the program. A person reads every message.

It helps to mention the page or activity, what happened, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. You do not need technical details to ask for help.

For procurement and IT review

BRIDGE runs on LearnWorlds. Our team reviews the pages we build, while LearnWorlds provides the underlying account and course tools. Email bridge@firstgenempower.org with your institution's documentation requirements. We can share information about our review and coordinate requests for the vendor's accessibility documentation.

Compatibility and ongoing review

Our pages are designed for current desktop and mobile browsers and standard assistive technologies. Policy content remains readable without JavaScript. We review page structure, contrast, keyboard access, and responsive layouts as we make changes, and update this statement when our approach changes.

Request accessibility support

Tell us what you need to participate. We will work with you to address the barrier or find another way to access the material.
