Privacy
This policy explains what First Gen Empower collects when you use the BRIDGE Certification portal, what it is used for, who can see it, and the choices you have.
Effective September 15, 2026. Version for the Fall 2026 cohort. Questions: bridge@firstgenempower.org.
Immigration status
We do not ask for or infer your immigration status, or the status of any student you work with. No form on this portal asks for it, and no session or community space requires it. Do not include immigration status or information that identifies a student in discussions, recordings, or submitted work. Our sharing guidelines ask every participant not to request it from anyone else.

Who we are
BRIDGE Certification is a program of First Gen Empower. First Gen Empower is responsible for the information described here. The portal runs on LearnWorlds, a learning platform that hosts it on our behalf.
-
What we collect, and when
When you create an account: your name and email address, and a password if you sign up using email. Institution, role, and department are optional account details. Nobody at BRIDGE sees your password.
When you buy a seat: your payment is processed securely by the payment provider offered at checkout, such as Stripe or PayPal. First Gen Empower receives confirmation that the payment succeeded, the amount, and the name and email on the purchase. Your card number never reaches us.
While you take the program: which sessions you joined through the portal and for how long, which videos and recordings you watched, your check quiz activity, your Campus Action Proposal and any files you submit with it, your survey responses, and what you post in the program community. This is the record the program runs on.
When you certify: your credential id, your name, your cohort, and the status of your credential.
If you subscribe to Policy Alerts: your email address is sent to First Gen Empower's Mailchimp mailing list so we can send the updates you requested. This subscription is optional and separate from program enrollment. You can unsubscribe using the link in those emails.
-
What it is used for
To run the program: your account, your progress, live session access and attendance, certification decisions, and program communications such as weekly reminders, session changes, and your certification result. To issue and verify credentials. To report program outcomes in aggregate. Campus reporting and credential verification are described below. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
-
Who can see it
The BRIDGE team at First Gen Empower sees the program record described above so it can run the program and decide certification.
Your campus, if it enrolled you. Institutions that enroll a cohort receive campus level reporting on participation and completion for the people they enrolled. If you bought your seat as an individual, no institution receives your record.
Other participants see your name, your institution, and whatever you choose to share in live sessions, recordings, and the community. Our sharing guidelines, which every participant accepts, keep what is shared in the program inside the program.
The public, only if you certify: the verification page at firstgenempower.org/bridge-verify confirms a credential id together with the name it was issued to, the cohort, and whether it is current. Nothing else about you is public.

The services the program relies on
LearnWorlds hosts the portal, your account, and your progress. Zoom runs the live sessions; joining through the portal is what records your attendance. Stripe and, where offered, PayPal process payments. Transloadit handles file uploads inside the platform, and Google Fonts serves the typefaces. Google Fonts sets no cookie but receives your IP address when your browser requests a font. First Gen Empower keeps its program records in its own systems, and sends program email from its own accounts and from the portal. Mailchimp manages the optional Policy Alerts email list linked from the site footer. Each provider handles your information under its own security and privacy commitments. We use these services to deliver BRIDGE and any optional updates you request.
-
Cookies and tracking
The portal sets the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to keep the site working. We do not run advertising trackers or social media pixels on the portal. The platform's own reporting shows us how the program is used, in the terms described above. See our cookies page for the services involved and your browser controls.
-
Recordings
Live sessions may be recorded so that enrolled participants who missed a session can watch it. Your voice, image, and chat contributions may appear in those recordings. Recordings stay inside the portal and are not published outside it without your separate consent.
-
Surveys
The pre program and post program surveys are confidential. Completing them is part of certification, so the portal records that you completed each one. Your answers are reported in aggregate and are not tied to your name in any report.
-
How long we keep it
Your account and program record stay for the length of your cohort and for as long as you remain part of the BRIDGE alumni network. Certification records are kept so that your credential stays verifiable. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your program record and retire your public credential entry, unless a legal obligation requires us to keep a specific item.
-
Your choices
You can see and correct your account details in the portal at any time. You can ask us for a copy of your program record, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to bridge@firstgenempower.org. You can leave the community space or stop program email at any time; program reminders stop when the cohort ends unless you choose to keep hearing from us.
-
Security
The portal is served over encrypted connections and your password is stored only in protected form. Staff access to the program record is limited to the people who run the program. If you believe your account has been accessed by someone else, tell us at once and we will secure it.
-
Changes and contact
We may update this policy for future cohorts; the version published when you enrolled applies to your cohort, and a change during a cohort comes with notice to you. Questions about this policy go to bridge@firstgenempower.org, and a person will answer.
This policy is part of the enrollment terms you accept at checkout or account creation.
